Let's Play!

I decided not to renew my teaching contract at Hong Kong by the year 2008 and flew home to San Francisco this summer for a short 5 month break. One major reason is because I wanted to spend some quality time with family, especially my nieces! Others might wondered why is doing that so important? And, what is exactly quality time? It's pure and simple: giving time and attention to people who matter in your life. (And, not in a time of crisis!) That to me is the definition of LOVE! Quality time means time well spent doing simple things: chatting, sharing, goofing around, playing games and laughing about everything! I made up my mind that I don't ever want my nieces to grow up without knowing who their Aunt Paula is. I don't mean me as a teacher, but me as an Aunt. It's an extraordinary gift to have them in my life and someday, when I look back on my life, I know I will smile everytime I think of them. Lots of great memories are in my pocket already!

In fact, talking and playing with kids is the best thing adults can do in this world. Kids are naturally FUN, uninhibitted, smart, spontaneous, and full of energy. It's when they grow up and get 'incorporated' into the real world, that they lose all those great kid qualities. I know I have and fight hard to keep that alive in me! We have a lot to learn but more so, smile to a kid at least once a day, and better yet, if you are an uncle or an aunt, spend quality time with your niece or nephew now. It's the greatest gift that money could never buy! Happy Life!
