Toltec through '09

I will be signing off from writing this blog until January 11th or so. I'm entering another phase of my break. December was truly and ironically HECTIC. I'm going to do some ice skating, shopping, hanging out with my nieces during their Winter Break, seeing new and old friends, hiking & exploring, and organizing my schedule/timetable for Grad School. One New Year's resolution for me is to leave the computer OFF as much as possible, unless I'm writing this blog, checking e-mails, or doing homework assignments. Life isn't meant to be sitting on the computer, I've discovered. And, for environmental reasons, I also read that energy should be turned off it isn't being used. The less time we got on earth, the more I want to fulfill the idea of getting out and doing things that I would surely regret when I am on my deathbed.
2008 has really been full of LIFE LESSONS. Looking forward to '09 - my year of the ox! My goal is simply to live '09 well and fulfill more dreams.

Today, I turned a page in my new calendar 2009. Since 2004, I have been using the 'The Four Agreements' calendar based on the best-selling book by Don Miguel Ruiz. He is a master of the Toltec widsom tradition and has dedicated his life to sharing the powerful teachings of the ancient Toltec. I thought it would be fitting to start the New Year, not only with a new calendar, but also with Don Miguel Ruiz's wisdom.

The Toltec tradition arises from the same essential unity of truth as all the sacred esoteric traditions found around the world. Though it is not a religion, it honors all the spiritual masters who have taught on the earth. While it does embrace spirit, it is most accurately described as a way of life, distinguished by the ready accessibility of happiness and love.

As I sign out briefly, may these words of wisdom stay with you all year through in 2009. The following are Toltec wisdom:
____________________________________________________________
'Life can be so wonderful. If you love yourself, if you practice doing your best, very soon it becomes a habit. When doing your best becomes a habit, everything is set up for you to always be happy, just as you were when you were a very young child.'

'When you enjoy the presence of yourself, you love yourself not because of the way you are, but because of what you are. The more you love yourself, the more you enjoy your life, and the more you enjoy the presence of everyone around you.'

'Every activity of your life can become a ritual of love - eating, walking, talking, working, playing. When everything becomes a ritual of love, you are no longer thinking; you are feeling. Just to be alive make you intensely happy.'

'Doing your best is about trusting in yourself and trusting in creation, the force of life. You set a goal and go for it 100% without any attachment to attaining it. You don't know if you are going to reach your goal, and you don't care if you do. You go for it, and when you reach the goal it's wonderful.'

May the passages above help all of us recover the freedom and joy that are our birthright, and bring greater awareness, happiness, joy & love throughout 2009.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! And, take FANTASTIC care!
