I was again completely glued to the television screen all day on January 20, 2009. It was an historical, amazing, extraordinary and stunning day that will go down in history. I can say that for the first time in a long time, I am very proud to be an American. President Barack Obama & Mrs. Obama captivated our hearts and minds. I am very much looking forward to having a young leader who will lead us into the 21st century amid the financial crisis and the war in Iraq. I am profoundly moved by President Obama's Inauguration speech. I truly believe if we act together and see all of us as ONE, anything is possible! Today will will surely go down in history. Maybe some day I can tell my children all about the extraordinary day in America when the first African-American was sworn in as President. It almost repents our country's racial struggles of the past and moves us forward into the future of change. God bless America! ;-)
An added note: Watching Senator Diane Feinstein host the Inauguration ceremony was surreal. I loved watching her. In fact, she was the Mayor of San Francisco in the late 80's. And, I remembered she was the guest of honor at my Middle School Graduation - A.P Giannini Class of 1987!! She handed me my diploma! So, to watch her political career grew over the years seemed like yesterday that I saw her at my school. And, I am also thrilled that Hillary Clinton is our new Secretary of State. She was the commencement speaker at SFSU in the mid-1990's. I could never forget that. These women represented something significant to the SF Bay Area!
