Eating only vegetables (no meat whatsoever) on Day 1 of the Lunar New Year is a tradition I respect and practice. TO start the new year with purity is the goal. And, vegeterian dishes signifies cleanliness and purity, and very tasty especially the monk-style kind, incorporating black mushroom, threaded rice noodles, snow peas, bamboo shoots, wooded mushroom, et.. These three vegetarian dishes shown highlight Day 1 of Chinese New Year! The white pot is a home-made version and the other two are from a Vegetarian Restaurant in our neighborhood.
