('Autumn Afternoon Stillness' by Robert Striffolino)
where love lives
the twilight years
never comes
never shines
of golden tones
peak ever so dimly
hues hold
their own,
through
fiery mists
sullen moods
hazy shades
escaping the
rays of age
old days
raging with nothing
when love
left,
bleeding orange
red, brown
autumn leaves
still coming
still living,
beyond the
twilight years.
