From Oct. 6-11, the PGA President's Cup Golf Tournament was held at Harding Park, Lake Merced, across the street from our school campus. Traffic and parking in and around the area was congested but it wasn't as bad as most people anticipated it would be. I'm not a fan of golf but since this major event was happening so nearby, I did watch some clips of it on the PGA website just to see how Lake Merced looks like on television, and to see Tiger Woods hit that last shot to claim yet another victory.
Lake Merced is a 4.5 mile loop in the western edge of San Francisco. It is where I do my running and walking. It's one of those paths, where once you start, you have to finish it because there's no way back because it's a loop shape. Due to the President's Cup, there were barricades of metal fences set up all around the vicinity of Lake Merced and lots of police officers on motorcycles patrolling the area. I can't recall seeing a major golf event taking place at Lake Merced at all. This was the first since I've been living in the area for almost 30+ years!! It was quite exciting!
