Three Witches

This Halloween weekend, I keep having images of 3 witches but I don't associate them with Halloween though witches and Halloween do go hand in hand. But, this image brings me back to the Three Witches in the Opening scene of Shakespeare's play 'The Tragedy of MacBeth' which was the first Shakespeare play I taught to Grade 12 students during my student teaching days nearly 10 years ago. I guess it is true that images come back to the brain and can with-hold long-lost memories that would reveal itself at the perfect moments. Below is an excerpt from the Scene 1 of the play. When there's 3 witches gathered together, this scene comes to mind as well as the 3 witches with one blind eye, in 'Clash of the Titans.'

ACT I
SCENE I. A desert place.

Thunder and lightning. Enter three Witches
First Witch
When shall we three meet again
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?

Second Witch
When the hurlyburly's done,
When the battle's lost and won.

Third Witch
That will be ere the set of sun.

First Witch
Where the place?

Second Witch
Upon the heath.

Third Witch
There to meet with Macbeth.

First Witch
I come, Graymalkin!

Second Witch
Paddock calls.

Third Witch
Anon.

ALL
Fair is foul, and foul is fair:
Hover through the fog and filthy air.

Exeunt
