In Memory

Recently, a former colleague at my old school passed away. I credit him for expanding my teaching experience especially after I was consolidated by the SFUSD in 2003. Mr. Sherrill requested for and gave me a long-term substitution assignment whereby I taught his classes the classic work of Homer's 'Odyssey' and Toni Morrison's 'Beloved.' I shall never forget those experiences. Thank you Mr. Sherril and God rest your soul.

Sid Sherrill Memorial

Sunday, September 7, 2008, beloved teacher, Sid Sherrill, succumbed to his battle with cancer. Mr. Sherrill taught English at George Washington High School for 11 years. He was a gifted teacher who touched the lives of his students. Particularly known for his implementation of a creative, rigorous curriculum that focused on writing, many of Mr. Sherrill's former students credit him with having made the most impact on their ability to think critically and compose well-written essays. Mr. Sherrill was 44 years old. He will be dearly missed by his students, friends and colleagues.
