Having been away from home in the last 4 years makes this Thanksgiving Holiday a very special and DELICIOUS one! There were 13 of us total - Cindy & John, Sue & Brian, Frank & me, Mom, John's mom, 10th aunt, and Amanda, Megan, Perri & Carlin. Two weeks ago, my siblings and I planned the menu and came up with something that hopefully satisfy the traditions of Thanksgiving and also everyone's taste buds. We left out the pumpkin pie but substituted it with cheesecake. And, I honestly believe my 2 sisters are the best chefs our family could have. Cindy brined the turkey for 24 hours and Sue made an amazing cornbread stuffing and fresh cream puffs. And, I followed Martha Stewart's way of making fresh mashed potatoes. Instead of dropping the whole potato in a pot of boiling water, I first de-skinned it and chopped it into chunks. By adding herbs like rosemary and thyme into the hot milk along with a room temperature butter, the mash potato turned out more fluffy and yummy!
