Today was entirely unreal. While I was showing my mom a picture of the iconic actress Farrah Fawcett, who tragically passed away this morning from anal cancer, a news blur pop up in my computer screen that Michael Jackson was hospitalized at that moment. Then, about 10 minutes later, TMZ reported that MJ had died and thereafter confirmations of his death swirl from CNN to Yahoo. I was in complete shock!
I am a huge fan of Michael Jackson, having grown up in the '80s and '90s. His music is magic and his talent is incomparable. I don't think I can finish writing this particular blog now. I'm heartbroken and just wanted to write a few words to relieve some of the grief and sadness I'm experiencing.
Michael Jackson brought so much joy to this world through his music and so much love to his fans (like myself) and to the world through his gentle and generous soul. I really can't believe he's gone. I can remember MJ's music as part of the landscape of my childhood and adolescence years. Even as an adult I still listen to his music, and play them often on my iPod. Some of favorites are Man in the Mirror, Thriller (during Halloween), Black & White.
And, also, Farrah Fawcett was part of my childhood as well. Growing up in a family of 3 girls, we pretended and emulated the roles of "Charlie's Angels" in our playtime. And, Farrah's television movie "The Burning Bed" was by far the most powerful portrayal on domestic violence I have ever seen. Farrah was not just a pretty face but a serious and great actress. Her fight with cancer paralleled that of my mom. But, Farrah's fierce bravery was extremely admirable.
Two iconic personas gone...a very sad day. May both of them Rest in Peace.
One of my favorite song from MJ: You Are Not Alone
