Happy Halloween! There seem to be alot going on this weekend. Not only does Halloween land on a Saturday this year, but the Bay Bridge has abruptly closed since Wednesday and will remain shut down until emergency repairs have been completed. Apparently, 2 steel rods have fallen onto the upper deck and hit two cars during the rush hour commute on Tuesday evening. Luckily no one was injured. This has caused people to find other ways to get into the city of San Francisco, and ferry services and BART (subway) have increased its services due to the impact of the bridge closure. For me, half of my classmates didn't make it to class on Wednesday and Thursday. The bridge is closed indefinitely. This has not happened before as far as I could remember.
This Halloween evening I went with my niece trick or treating around our neighborhood. It was cold but the skies were clear, and some parts of the neighborhood could get quite festive with decorative houses, and people passing out candies. The spirit of Halloween is not to get as much candies as possible, but to enjoy the 'scariness' and the spookiness of symbols like jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, skeletons, zoombies, etc... And, people just enjoying some creativity with themselves such as gettting dressed up in costumes and going to a party. It is all part of the fun, though this year I'm a little too wrapped up with my schooling to put together a costume. I was thinking of being the aviation navigator Amelia Earhart. All I need is a pair of boots, goggles, short hair, a beige-green trenchcoat, a hat, gloves, a scarf and a map, then I'll be off flying. I am going to watch the movie when I get a chance!
And, as I'm writing this it is also Daylight Savings Time. At 2:00am, clocks will be set one hour backwards to 1:00am. We will all have an extra hour of sleep, thank goodness! It's been a great Halloween....and please check out my photos below: Thanks for dropping by! ;-)
