My little 4-year old niece Carlin came over to play today. She brought her new pink umbrella even though today was a beautiful, sunny Winter Day. We took some pictures of beautiful things in my parent's backyard. I gave her a baby vase to place her flowers. I like to quote John Muir (The guy behind Yosemite) who said, 'When one tugs at a single thing in nature, (s)he finds it attached to the rest of the world.' I hope my nieces will always feel deeply connected to the rest of the world, even if it's through touching or feeling a plant or flower.
